Unique Backroad Journeys offers small group travel to destinations that we know well and which never fail to fascinate our travelers.

We travel to places that are unique, culturally and historically captivating, and yet overlooked by larger tour groups.

Our travelers enjoy utterly unique experiences: from learning how to make bread in Matera, to exploring flower markets in the south of France, to enjoying a Bedouin banquet under the stars in Morocco.

On an organized tour, the personal touch is a rare thing. We ensure it’s provided at every stop on every itinerary.

Our guides know their destinations inside out, and are always on hand to provide real local knowledge.

What’s our background?
Unique Backroad Journeys is the loving creation of Deborah Manasse. Deborah’s fascination with foreign culture began with French lessons at high school. In college, she then met her future husband, who hails from Milan.

Following a move to Brussels, Deborah began touring Europe extensively: Holland, England, Switzerland, France, Germany, Austria, Morocco and Italy. She fell in love with each of these places, while honing her French and Italian language skills. She later moved to Milan.

Deborah began to realize she led a charmed life, and was eager to share her travel experiences with others. She started taking friends, and friends of friends, to off-the-beaten-track destinations in Italy.

In those early days, seeing real places and meeting real people was Deborah’s inspiration. She’s never looked back.

Unique Backroad Journeys is born from a personal passion for travel. That’s why our tours are so special.
